Maggie Kerr Riddell was born on 15 February 1894 at 28 Woodside Walk in Hamilton. Her parents were Francis and Janet (Kerr) Riddell and her father drove a van for a bakery. When the 1901 census was enumerated the family still lived at the Woodside Walk address and Maggie attended school.
Ten years later Maggie lived with her family at Gertrude Cottage on 7 Scott Street and worked with her sister, Martha, as an assistant at a fruit produce shop. She married Alexander Paterson on 18 August 1926 at her parents home, Gertrude Cottage, according to the forms of the Christian Brethren. She was 32 years old and worked as a shop assistant in her father's confection shop. They had at least one son.
Maggie Kerr (Riddell) Paterson died in 1997 in Lesmahagow, a district of Lanarkshire, Scotland.
