2.3.5. Elizabeth Riddell (1863-1926)

Elizabeth Riddell was born on 18 October 1863 in the village of East Kilbride, Scotland. She was the fifth child of John and Martha (Muir) Riddell. She lived with her family in East Kilbride until sometime before 1881. At that time she was living in the home of John Cullen in New Monkland, who was a farmer of about 100 acres of land. She was general servant in the home and likely helped Mrs. Cullen with her three small children.

On 19 January Elizabeth married Robert Forsyth at 19 London Road in the Camlachie district of Glasgow. They married according to the forms of the Congregationalists. Elizabeth worked as a servant at the 19 London Road address. The couple had eight children during the course of their marriage.

They lived in various parts of Glasgow, including St David, Blythswood, and Gorbals. Elizabeth died on 13 April 1926 at her home one 47 Clarence Street of rheumatoid arthritis, chronic bronchitis and cardiac failure. She was 62 years old at the time of her death. Her husband lived another 14 years.
