2.3.5.1. Thomas Bannatyne Sproull (1884-1973)

Thomas Bannatyne Sproull was born on 5 March 1884 at 47 Water Street in the Milton district of Glasgow. His father was a lorry man for a railway. In 1891 he lived with his family on 52 Water Street and in 1901 he lived with them on 4A Bank Street in Glasgow. He worked as a warehouse porter.

In 1911 Thomas and his widowed mother lived at 9 Milton Street and Thomas worked as a picture packer at a frame warehouse. He married Jane Forsyth on 20 October 1911. He still lived with his mother on 9 Milton Street and continued to work as a warehouse packer. I believe he met Jane at the picture frame company as she worked at such a place with two of her younger sisters.

The couple had one known daughter, Elizabeth Riddell Sproull, who was born in 1912.

In 1915 Thomas rented a home on 26 St. Andrew Square from the St. Andrew Parish Church and paid an annual rent of 4 pounds, 10 shillings. His occupation was listed as porter.

When his wife, Jane, died in 1956, the couple lived at 61 Ashcroft Drive in Glasgow and Thomas was retired stationery warehouse man. He died in 1973 in the Martha St. district of Glasgow.
