2.3.5.1. Jane Forsyth (1882-1956)

Jane Forsyth was born 3 December 1882 at 84 Henderson Street in the Kelvin district of Glasgow. Her parents were Robert Forsyth and Elizabeth Riddell, who did not marry until the month after her birth. Jane lived with her family on 165 Brook Street in Glasgow in 1891.

By 1901 the family lived at 14 Margaret Street in the same city and Jane was working as a picture frame finisher.  By 1911 Jane and her family had moved to 230 Holm Street. She still worked as a picture frame finisher. Her younger sisters, Elizabeth and Ellen, also worked with her.

On 20 October 1911 Jane married Thomas Bannatyne Sproull at her home on Holm Street, according to the forms of the United Free Church. I believe Jane met Thomas at work as he was a picture packer at a frame warehouse when the 1911 census was enumerated.

Jane and Thomas had at one known daughter in 1912.

Jane (Forsyth) Sproull died on 28 July 1956 of myeloid leukemia at the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow. She was 73 years old at the time of her death and lived with her husband at 61 Ashcroft Drive in Glasgow. Her husband died in 1973.
