Thomas Crawford Gray was born on 17 March 1902 on Shanter Farm in Kirkoswald, Ayrshire, to William and Jeannie (Crawford) Gray. His father was a farmer. In 1911 Thomas lived with his family, which included four brothers on the family farm.
Thomas married Helen Walker Hunter in 1942 in the Kelvingrove district of Glasgow. It is not known whether the couple had children.
Thomas died in 1982 in Ayr, Scotland.
