Catherine McCormack Riddell was born on 4 February 1923 at One Udston Rows in Hamilton. She was the eldest child of Malcolm and Isabella (Lindsay) Riddell. Her father was a coal miner at the time of her birth.
Catherine married Benjamin Redfern in the Camlachie district of Glasgow in 1955. Nothing is known about him. They had at least one, also named, Benjamin, who died when he was five years old.
In 1966 Catherine married John Alexander Rice. I do not know if her first husband died or if they divorced. John Alexander Rice was born in 1913 and likely died in 1987. It is not known if Catherine and John had children.
Catherine McCormack (Riddell) Redfern Rice died 16 April 2000 at St. Margaret's Hospice Clydebank of cholangiocarcinoma, a cancer of the bile ducts, at the age of 77. She lived at 90 Northinch Street in Glasgow before her death.
