Malcolm Riddell was born on 9 May 1897 at Enfield Cottage in the Burnbank area of Hamilton parish to Robert and Catherine (McCormick) Riddell. He was their eighth child. Malcolm lived with his family in Auchentibber in 1901 and in Kirkhead Rows in Burnbank in 1911.
On 28 May 1920 he married Isabella Lindsay at the Manse in Burnbank according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. Malcolm was 22 years old, lived at 10 High Dykehead, and worked as a coal miner at the time of their marriage. The couple had four known children.
Malcolm died in April 1988 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England.
