Johnette Finlay was the only known daughter of John Houston and Elizabeth Riddell (Paton) Finlay and was the informant on her mother's death registration. It is not known when she was born.

She married Geoffrey Hird in 1961 in the Blythswood district of Glasgow. He was born in 1940 in Perth, Scotland.
