Elizabeth Riddell Sproull was born on 24 August 1912 at 62 Cramond St in the Govanhill district of Glasgow. She was the only known child of Thomas Bannatyne and Elizabeth (Forsyth) Sproull. She was named for her maternal grandmother.
Elizabeth Riddell Sproull died on 1 March 1915 at the home of her birth of bronchitis and whooping cough. She was not quite three years old.
