2.3.5.2.2. Elizabeth Riddell Paton (1909-1991)

Elizabeth Riddell Paton was born on 1 April 1909 at 55 Cedar Street in the Kelvin district of Glasgow, Scotland, to Alexander and Martha Muir (Forsyth) Paton. She was born four months after her parents'  marriage and was their only known daughter. When the 1911 census was enumerated she and her parents lived at 10 Silvergrove Street in the Calton burgh ward.

Her father, Alexander Paton, died in 1915 when Elizabeth was 6 years old. Her mother married James Sproull in 1916.

On 28 June 1931 Elizabeth Riddell Paton married John Houston Finlay at the MacLeod Church in Glasgow according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. She was 22 years old, lived at 60 Couper Street with her mother and step-father and worked as a book binder. They had at least one daughter, as she was the informant on her mother's death registration.

Elizabeth Riddell (Paton) Finlay died on 21 June 1991 at the Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow of a cerebrovascular accident, congestive heart failure, and chronic obstructive airways disease. She was 82 years old and lived at 54 Borland Road in Bearsden, which was the address of her daughter Johnette Hird.
