2.3.4.8. Isabella Lindsay (1903-1966)

Isabella Lindsay was born on 3 January 1903 at 118 Wellington Street in the Motherwell area of Dalziel parish to Andrew and Margaret (Douglas) Lindsay. Her mother died on 31 March 1911 by swallowing carbolic acid. She lingered for four days before she died. Her husband was left with three children ranging in age from 12 to 8 years old. He married Margaret McGuffick on 23 August 1912 and Isabella apparently considered her to be her real mother as she was listed as Isabella's mother on her marriage registration.

On 28 May 1920 Isabella married Malcolm Riddell at the Manse in Burnbank according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. Isabella said she was 20 years old when their marriage was registered but had turned 18 a few months before. She lived Newhousemill Farm in East Kilbride and worked there as a farm servant. She and Malcolm had four known children.

She died between October and December 1966 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England.
