Robert Forsyth McInally was born in 1924 in the Gorbals district of Glasgow to Thomas and Annie (Forsyth) McInally. He was their only known child. He married Catherine McKay Liddell in 1954 in Glasgow.
In 1987 Robert was the informant listed on his mother's death registration and lived at 7 Johnstone Road in Gartcosh, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He died in 2010 in Dunblane, Perth, Scotland. His wife may still be living. It is not known if the couple had children.

They did have one daughter named Gail who became a doctor and moved to Newfoundland with her husband Alec (surname not known)
