Mary Elizabeth Cram was born on 21 May 1927 in Spennymoor, County Durham, England, to John Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Kelly) Cram. Her father was an engine man for a coal mine.
According to her son she married Robert Forsyth Sproull in 1946. They had at least one son. The family lived in Scotland after their marriage but in 1968 moved to County Durham.
Mary Elizabeth (Cram) Sproull died in January 1996 in Durham County.
