It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, Roxburgh (Roy) Richmond, on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the age of 92 years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Peggy, of 60 years and son, Roy Jr. He leaves behind his daughters; Susan (Richard) Chambers, Barbara (Graham) Cranage, Linda (Mark) Hemmingsen, Cathy (Don) Whyte, sons; Gary (Judy) Richmond and David Richmond. Grandchildren; Art (Inge) Chambers, Steve (Jill) Chambers, Lance (Brittany) Chambers, Chrissy (Bob) Souchuck, Laura (Darren) Moore, Angela Richmond (Gord), Randy (Renee) Rusjan, Renee (Brent) Reimer, Robin (Trisha) Rusjan, Mike (Pauline) Richmond, Dwayne Richmond, Kris Hemmingsen, Darlene Hemmingsen (Dave), Shane (Hari) Whyte, Corey (Gloria) Whyte, and Gail Wolverton, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy was born in Nanaimo, but lived all his married life in Port Alberni. He will be remembered for his passion and his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and the many trips he took with friends. He loved to hunt, fish and camp with family at Bear Lake. He was a jack of all trades, from being a plumber, owning a sawmill, to maintenance man for the Beaver Creek Water Board.
A special thanks to home support and the nursing staff at the Palliative Care Unit at WCGH. A special, heartfelt hanks, to his personal caregiver, Cindy Parkinson, for her care and attention.
Cremation has taken place and a "Celebration of Roy's Life" will be held at a later date.
As published in the Alberni Valley Times.
