Robert Riddell was born on 15 October 1912 at 13 George Street, Hamilton, Scotland. He is believed to be the eldest child of Hamilton McCormick and Elizabeth (Rooney) Riddell.
He married Susan Curwood Donald Carnihan on 30 December 1938 at the Cadzow Manse in Hamilton. At the time of their marriage Hamilton was a 26-year-old general laborer who lived at 40 William Drive in Eddlewood. It is not known if Robert and Susan had children.
Robert Riddell died on 16 December 1986 at Stonehouse Hospital in Stonehouse of dehydration and a cancerous tumor of an unknown location. He lived at 34 Forest Avenue in Hamilton at the time of his death and Robert was a retired electrical factory laborer.
