James Davidson Forman was born on 25 February at 5 Mullen Street in the Torry area Nigg, Scotland, in what was then Kincardineshire, a historic county on the North Sea. His parents were William and Christina Greig (Davidson) Forman and his father was a stone polisher. In April of that same year the family lived at 5 Walker Road, which was also in Torry. Ten years later the family lived at 83 Walker Road. By 1911 William was 20 years old, still living with his family at 76 Mingies Road in Nigg and working as an upholsterer.
He married Isabella Cowie Riddell between July and September 1920 in Belfast, Ireland. It is not known why James left Scotland. Isabella was likely there because her mother, Annie (Cowie) Riddell, and her brother, John, lived there.
James and Isabella had a least one son, Robert W. C. Forman as he was the informant on his mother's death registration.
James Davidson Forman died in 1966 at Aberdeen, Scotland.
