Susan Curwood Donald Carnihan was born on 11 December 1913 at 217 Low Waters in Hamilton to Thomas Donald and Susan Curwood Carnihan. Susan's father was a coal miner.
On 30 December 1938 Susan married Robert Riddell at the Cadzow Manse in Hamilton. She was 25 years old, lived at 14 Strathaven Road, and worked as an ice cream shop assistant. It is not known if the couple had children.
Susan Riddell died 16 January 1981 at her home on 34 Forest Avenue in Hamilton of left ventricular failure and ischemic heart disease. She was 67 years old at the time of her death. Her husband, Robert died five years later.
