2.3.4.6 Margaret McCormick Riddell (1893-1893)

Margaret McCormick Riddell was born on 1 June 1893 at her parents home at 24 Leechlee Street in Hamilton.  She was the fifth child born to Robert and Catherine (McCormick) Riddell after their marriage. She died on 14 July 1893 at 24 Lamb Street in Hamilton of chronic bronchitis, which she suffered from for a week. She lived a little more than a month.


2.3.4.7 Francis Riddell (1894-1915)

Francis Riddell was on 10 August 1894 a month after the death of his older sister, Margaret. His birth occurred at 24 Lamb Street in Hamilton. He was the sixth child born to Robert and Catherine (McCormick) Riddell after their marriage. In 1901 he lived with his family at 5 Craig Rows in the Auchentibber area of Blantyre parish and his father worked for a quarry. In 1911 the family had moved to Kirkhead Rows in Hamilton parish.

By 1915 Francis was 21 years old and worked as a coal miner. He drowned on 14 November 1915 at Hatfield Quarry. An investigation later revealed it was an accidental death. He was buried in the family lair at Bent Cemetery in Hamilton.

2.3.4.8 Malcolm Riddell (1897-1988)

2.3.4.9 Thomas Riddell (1899-1900)

Thomas Riddell was born on 18 July 1899 at Craig Rows in the Auchentibber area of Blantyre parish.  The tiny hamlet, at its apogee, included about 60 dwellings for families who worked in the nearby stone quarries. Thomas was the eighth child born after Robert and Catherine (McCormick) Riddell's marriage. He died on 13 January 1900 in the same hamlet of broncho-pneumonia from which he had suffered about a week.
