Children of John and Agnes Riddell (McCormick) Douglas

2.3.4.1.1. John Douglas (1901-1925)

John Douglas was born on 17 December 1901 at the Maternity Hospital in the Milton district of Glasgow. He was the oldest child of John Douglas and Agnes Riddell McCormick who were not married at the time of John's birth. His parents lived at 13 Roslin Place when he was born. Ten years later John lived with his parents at One Rutherford Lane and attended school.

In 1925 John worked as an electric plater and lived with his parents at 5 Rutherford Lane. On August 26 he died of lobar pneumonia at Ruchill Hospital. He was 23 years old at the time of his death.

2.3.4.1.3. Agnes Douglas 1904-1912)

Agnes Douglas was born on 26 September 1904 at 31 Renfrew Lane in Glasgow, the home of her parents. She was the third child of John and Agnes Riddell (McCormick) Douglas.

In 1911 Agnes was a patient at the Woodilee Lunatic Asylum in Kirkintilloch. The document indicated she had been an "imbecile since infancy." She died on 12 May 1912 at the asylum of pulmonary tuberculosis.

2.3.4.1.4. Ann Douglas (1906-1907)

Ann Douglas was born on 14 August 1906 at 31 Renfrew Lane in Glasgow, the home of her parents. She was the fourth child of John and Agnes Riddell (McCormick) Douglas.

On 4 February she died at the same location. The probable cause of death was pneumonia and convulsions. This was confirmed on 19 February by Dr. John T. MacLachlan and a corrected entry was made to the death register. She was nearly six months old at the time of her death.

2.3.4.1.5. Robert Riddell Douglas (1907-1909)

Robert Riddell Douglas was born on 21 November 1907 at 31 Renfrew Lane, the home of his parents. He was the fifth child of John and Agnes Riddell (McCormick) Douglas. Some time before his death the family had moved to One Rutherford Lane in the Milton district of Glasgow.

On 18 March 1909 Robert died at his parents home. The certifying physician, the same Dr. MacLachlan, believed he had died of heart failure due to a disease of the lungs. Further investigation was done but the doctor was never certain of his cause of death. A register of corrected entries was filed on 26 April 1909 and the cause of death was lists as probably cardiac failure and pulmonary disease. Robert was 16 months old at the time of his death.

2.3.4.1.7. Charles Douglas (1911-1911)

Charles Douglas was born on 10 September 1911 at One Rutherford Lane, his parents home. He was the seventh child of John and Agnes McCormick (Riddell) Douglas. On 21 September 1911 Charles died at the same location of congenital debility and convulsions.

2.3.4.1.9. Agnes McCormick Douglas (1923-1990)

Agnes McCormick Douglas was born on 2 April 1923 at her parents home in the Milton district of Glasgow. She was the ninth child of John and Agnes Riddell (McCormick) Douglas.  At least after her parents' deaths she was known as Nancy. Agnes died on 11 February 2003 of chronic myocardial degeneration and arteriosclerosis at Morningside Nursing Home in Edinburgh.

According to Mark Douglas, a Douglas family researcher, after her mother's death Agnes was raised by her paternal aunt and uncle William and Jane Anne (Douglas) McAllister at their home in Crief.
