2.3.4.2.1.2. Eric William Crawford (1924-1980)

Eric William Crawford was born on 16 January 1924 in Victoria, British Columbia, to William James and Ethel Gertrude (Williams) Crawford. William, his father, had immigrated from County Antrim, Ireland. His mother had been born in Ontario.

The 1945 voters list indicated Eric lived with his parents at 3237 Wascana Street in Nanaimo, British Columbia. His served with the Royal Canadian Navy. In 1949 Eric was still living at the Wascana Street address and worked as a mechanic. On the 1953 voters list, Eric continued to live at the Wascana Street address with his widowed mother and brother.

According to one of his descendants, he married the daughter of Walter Frederick and Mary (Riddell) Colbourne on 4 December 1952 in Victoria. The couple had nine children.

The 1957 voters list included Eric William and Mary Margaret Crawford, living on 435 Conway Road with Eric working as a mechanic. The 1958 list included the same information.

By 1963 the couple had moved to Victoria, British Columbia and lived on 2660 Dean Avenue. Mary's brother, Barrie, lived with them and worked as a gas station attendant. Eric's occupation was listed as shipper, which would have been a new career for him. In 1965 the couple was at the same address and Eric again worked as a mechanic.

He died on 21 November 1980 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia, cardiac arrest with several other contributing factors. His wife is still alive.
