John Pottie Baxter was born on 1 October 1913 at this parents' home on 148 Waddell Street in the Hutchesontwon district of Glasgow. His parents were Hugh Trough and June (Pottie) Baxter. They married four months before his birth and his father was a carter.
John married Margaret McCormick Douglas on 30 June 1939 at Plantation (St. Andrew's) Church in the Tradeston district of Glasgow according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. He was a 25-year-old railway carter and lived at 16 Eaglesham Street, Glasgow. His bride was a 21-year-old laundry worker who lived at 3 Marchinch Street, Glasgow.
Margaret McCormick (Douglas) Baxter died in 1972 but no death registration record has been located for John Pottie Baxter. It is not known if the couple had children.
