2.3.4.1.2. John Duffy (1900-1977)

John Duffy was born on 22 March 1900 at 39 Muse Lane in the Milton district of Glasgow to John and Sarah (Dyer) Duffy. In 1915 the family lived at 28 Broomhill Street in Glasgow and his father served with the British Army.

John married Jane Clark Douglas on 30 April 1928 at the St Aloysius Church in Glasgow. At the time of his marriage he was 28 years old, lived at 60 Broomhill Street and worked as a builder's laborer. He and Jean had at least one daughter.

Jean died in 1936 and John died on 28 November 1977 at the Royal Infirmary in Glasgow of cor pulmonale and chronic bronchitis. Cor pulmonale causes the right side of the heart to fail and is usually the result of long-term high blood pressure. He had been living at 9 Tay Crescent in Glasgow, the home of his daughter and her husband, and was a retired shipyard laborer.
