2.3.4.2. Agnes Richmond (1891-1925)

Agnes Richmond was born on 25 February 1891 in the hamlet of Auchentibber in the parish of Blantyre, Scotland. Her parents were William and Mary (Smith) Richmond. Her father was a coal miner. When the census was enumerated a month after her birth the family's residence was identified as Peasweep Rows. The family still lived in the Rows in 1901.

At the age of 21 she married John "Jock" Riddell at the Manse in Burbank according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. The couple lived at One Dykehead at the time of their marriage. Agnes worked as a farm servant and Jock as a coal miner. Agnes' brother, Thomas, had married Jock's sister, Catherine, a few years earlier.

The couple had two children before Agnes died on 18 October 1925 of vascular disease of the heart. She was 34 years old at the time of her death. The family lived at 21 Dufflehead Rows in Hamilton.

The funeral was conducted for Agnes on 21 October; she was interred in the Riddell family lair at Bent Cemetery in Hamilton.
