Maiden Names of Agnes Riddell (McCormick) Douglas

Since there is no documentary evidence that Robert Riddell was the father of Agnes Riddell (McCormick) Douglas, I have always been curious as to the various maiden names she used throughout her life and why they changed.

This table illustrates the maiden names used in all the documentary evidence about Agnes during her life.  You will notice she began using Riddell as her maiden in late 1907 when a son was born. She named that son, Robert Riddell Douglas. Did her supposed father, Robert Riddell, acknowledge Agnes as his daughter when she named a son after him? Did she go back to using McCormick as her maiden after the death of her mother? And the pressure on her supposed father to acknowledge Agnes was removed?

This is a situation that will never be answered by research. Only family memories will provide an answer.
