2.3.4.1.6. Ebenezer Hardie (1908-1973)

Ebenezer Hardie was born on 16 December 1908 at 26 Drummond Street in the St. Rollox district of Glasgow. His parents were James and Elizabeth (Neilson) Hardie. His mother went by Betsy and his father was a carter. In 1911 the family was living at 33 Salisbury Street in the Gorbals area of Glasgow.

He married Catherine McCormick Douglas on 26 December 1930 at the Milton Parish Church according to the forms of the Church of Scotland in Glasgow. The couple lived at 29 Cowcaddens Street in the Milton district of Glasgow at the time of their marriage and Ebenezer was a railway carter.

Catherine died on 20 November 1931 of tuberculosis. Three years later, he married Janet McIntosh on 6 July 1934 according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. They married in the Anderston district of Glasgow. The couple lived at 18 Colinton Street at the time of their marriage. Janet was 20 years old and worked as a restaurant kitchen maid.

Ebenezer died on 19 November 1973 at his home on 60 Stonyhurst Street in Glasgow of a myocardial infarction. He worked as a lorry driver at the time of his death and his second wife lived until 1988.

Ebenezer had at least one son, who was named George. He was the informant on this father's death registration. I do not know who his mother was or if Ebenezer had more children.
