Jerry Allen Muir, Jr., was born on 10 October 1965 in Tazewell County, Virginia, the eldest child of Jerry Allen Muir and Shirley Gay Short. He was eight years old when his father was killed in a mining accident. He married Tammy Alice Baldwin, daugher of Norman Baldwin and Ruth Edna Harmon, on 19 November 1983 in Tazewell County. As of 1993 the couple lived in Pounding Mill, Virginia.

2.12.3.3.7.2. Samuel Jonathan Muir (1971- )

Samuel Jonathan Muir, was born on 22 March 1971 in Tazewell County, the youngest child of Jerry Allen Muir and Shirley Gay Short. He was two years old when his father was killed in a mining accident. He married Melissa Ann Steele on 1 August 1992 in Tazewell County. As of 2002 the couple lived in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
