Jessie Riddell was born on 25 August 1914 at 27A Barnes Street in Clydebank to Thomas and Margaret (Brownlee) Riddell. She was their thirteenth and youngest known child. Her father was a carter.
Jessie married George Stuart on 18 Jun 1937 at the Masonic Hall on Dumbarton Road in Clydebank according to the forms of the Congregational Church. Jessie was 22 years old and lived with her parents at 10 First Terrace and worked as a French polisher, who brought cabinets to a fine finish with oils and sandpaper. It is not known if the couple had children.
Jessie died 33 years after her husband in 1993. She lived in Glasgow.
