2.3.6.5. Mary Jane Neill Walker (1902-1978)

Mary Jane Neill Walker was born on 28 July 1902 at Harleeshill, Larkhall, Lanarkshire, to Samuel and Sarah (Kirkwood) Walker. Her father was a blacksmith at a colliery. The family had moved to 4 Allanton Terrace in Hamilton by 1911 and her father worked as an engineer at a colliery. He later went on to manage a colliery.

Mary Jane married John Kerr Wilson Riddell on 17 April 1929 at 7 Cadzow Street in Hamilton according to the forms of the Christian Brethren. She was 26 years old, lived at her parents' home at 4 Allanton Terrace and did not work. The couple had one known son.

Mary Jane Neill Walker died on 30 April 1978 at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride of suppurative bronchitis and broncho-pneumonia. Contributory factors in her death were coronary artery atheroma and hebotic cirrhosis. She was 75 years old and had lived at 3 Chestnut Crescent in Hamilton before her death.
