MUIR, Henrietta, formerly of East St. Louis, IL, and St. Petersburg, FL, died Sat., Feb. 23, 2008, in Elgin, IL. She had been in the Bowes Health Center then in Asta Care Center, both in Elgin, for the past 10 years. She was born in Tralee, West Virginia, Jan. 14, 1920, the daughter of Margaret Elizabeth Fauz Muir and Robert Muir. During WW II, Ms. Muir was employed at Project Manhattan plan in Hanford, WA. She retired from Continental Can Co. in St. Louis, MO, in 1982. She was a 45-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lodge 545 in East St. Louis then Lodge 3658 in St. Petersburg. She also was a member of the United Steelworkers of America #1120.
She is survived by her son Dr. Joseph Kenneth (Lois Siegel) Shartiag of Barrington Hills, IL; grandchildren Michael Joseph (Robin) Shartiag, Highland Park, IL, Beth Elena Shartiag (Dr. Kenneth) Lofland, of Chicago, great-grandchildren Zachary Shartiag, Shira Shartiag, Logan Lofland and Angelina Lofland; sister Verna Muir Burglechner, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert (Sadie) Muir, sisters Margaret Muir (Roy) Hess, Alice Muir (Marvin) Jennings, and brother-in-law Frank Burglechner.
Memorial contributions may be made in Henrietta's name to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 500 North Dearborn, Ste 305, Chicago, IL 60610, or to your favorite charity. Services: Graveside services 11:30 AM, Sat., March 29, 2008 at the Caseyville Cemetery (at the intersection of Hollywood Heights Road and Route 157, turn and go up the hill).
