2.12.3.4. Verna Muir (1917-2010)

Verna Muir was born on 4 August 1917 in Illinois, most likely in East St. Louis, to Robert Muir and Elizabeth "Liz" Fausz. She was their second child and eldest daughter.  Verna had two half siblings by her father's previous marriage. Her father was a coal miner. I have been unable to find the family in the 1920 census, but assume they were living in West Virginia, as Verna's younger sister was born in Tralee, West Virginia, in 1920.

In 1930 Liz and her three daughters, including Verna, were back in Illinois, and lived at 436 North 80th Street, in Centerville, a house her husband owned. Centerville was the township next to East St. Louis.

Verna married Franz "Frank" Burglechner sometime before 1935. The coupled lived in Verna's father's house on North 80th Street and had a three-year-old daughter when the census was enumerated in 1940. Verna's parents had divorced by 1940 and her mother and grandmother lived a block away from Verna and Frank.

Sometime before 1985 Frank and Verna moved to Ravenswood, West Virginia where they lived their for the remainder of Frank and Verna's lives. Frank died in 1985 and Verna in 2010. Both are interred at the Ravenswood Cemetery in Ravenswood.
