Henrietta Findlay was born on 17 February 1896 in the village of Kirkton, East Kilbride. She was the fifth child born to Charles and Henrietta (Riddell) Findlay. By 1901 the family had moved to the village of East Kilbride; and, in 1911, when Henrietta was 15 years old, she was working as a tailor in the village and living with her widowed father. Her mother had died in 1904.
By 1927 Henrietta Findlay had moved to Kilfinan Parish in Argyllshire, Scotland. It was about 90 miles east northeast from where she was born near the Firth of Clyde. She worked as a domestic servant in Auchenlochan.
On 15 March 1927 Henrietta married John Turner. She was 31 years old and John was 37. He had never been married before and worked as a gardener. I was able to identify six children born in Kilfinan with the Turner surname, who were born during Henrietta's child-bearing years. However, the only way I can verify if they are John and Henrietta's children is to order their birth registration records or wait until 100 years from each birth date until the registrations images are available for download.
The names of those possible six children are: Henrietta Turner (1927), Alexander Campbell Turner (1928), John Turner (1931), John Mitchell Turner (1931), Alistar Findlay Turner (1933), Ann Ysobel Turner (1936).
