Thelma Christena Erickson was born on Nov. 25, 1915, to Herbert and Jane Beck at Summerfield, IL. Her family moved to Roy, MT and lived on a farm on the prairie from 1923 to 1942. Thelma rode horses on the range and was considered a true cowgirl. She attended a one-room schoolhouse at Byford and Little Crooked, MT.
Thelma Beck married William E. "Bill" Erickson Dec. 15, 1934, in Lewiston, MT. They moved to Bainbridge Island during World War II in 1942. Bill worked in the shipyards during that period. The couple moved to Garrard Creek in April 1954, then to Oakville in May of 1969. Bill died on Feb. 20, 1984.
Thelma's hobbies included collecting collectibles and reading. She was in many senior citizen programs, including the Senior Companion program, RSVP Oakville, the Oakville Senior Citizens Club, the Sheba Agency and the Grays Harbor area Olympia Area on Aging.
Thelma is survived by her four children, Lillian (Forrest) Nelson of Rushville, NE, Herbert (Dorothy) Erickson of Denver, CO, Carol Smith of Rochester, WA, and William "Bill Jr." (Glenda) Erickson of Ellensburg, WA, two sisters-in-law, Lillian Beck of Havre, MT and Pearl "Patsy" Lawrence of La Mesa, CA, 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, her brother, John, her grandson Allmon, and her great-granddaughter, Tazzalyn.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Friday, September 2, at Newell-Hoerling's Funeral Chapel in Centralia, WA. Burial will be at Grand Mound Cemetery followed by a potluck reception at the FOTL (old Legion Hall) Community Hall in Oakville. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Friday morning before the service.
