Frances Beverly (Muir) Nikas died peacefully at home on April 23, 2013 in Salem, Oregon surrounded by her family. Fran was born on Whidbey Island in 1924 and raised in Seattle by the first Fire Chief of the Boeing Company, Alexander Muir. She moved to San Francisco in the 1950s and married Nicholas Nikas in 1956. Together they raised two children, Sean Nikas and Janet Tarver. Fran was president of Poly High School PTA in San Francisco in the 1950s and enjoyed a career in accounting. The family moved to Ross in 1966 where Fran found her passion for theater as a playwright and actor with the Ross Valley Players. She was an active television and voice-over actor with the Screen Actors Guild for over 25 years. In retirement, she moved to Ashland, Oregon where she supported theater and music. Last year she celebrated her 56th year of marriage to Nick with another of her famously fun parties. Fran was preceded in death by her daughter Janet Tarver. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, her son Sean Nikas and his wife Mary, along with four children, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She will always be remembered by family and friends for her wonderful cooking, marvelous story telling, great parties, beautiful smile and joyful laughter.
