Arthur married Bernice "Bessie" Onlee Sherman, daughter of Frank Sherman and Florence Schornfeldt, on 15 June 1938 in Inkster, Michigan. Arthur may have met Bessie when he lived in Lenawee County as she lived in Adrian, the county seat, in 1935. Arthur worked as an inspector at the time of his marriage.
When the 1940 census was enumerated, Arthur and Bessie lived on Plymouth Road, in a home they rented for $10, in Superior, Michigan, which is just east of Ann Arbor. Arthur was a glass inspector at an automobile factory.
According to Grandma Jennings' genealogy notebook, Arthur and Bessie had three children, who would have been born after 1940:
- James Muir
- Judith Muir married David Nester on 22 September 1962 or 1963
- Linda Muir
I have been unable to discover any additional information about these children.
In 1990 Arthur and Bessie likely lived in Murray, Kentucky, but by 1993 were back in Michigan and lived in Redford. Arthur lost his wife in 2002 and he died on 18 February 2006. His last Social Security benefit was sent to Redford.
