One person was killed in a Monday afternoon crash when the vehicle he was driving ran off Interstate 10 west of Jennings and flipped several times.
Killed was Michael McCommons, Jr., 27, of Rayne.
McCommons reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt when the vehicle he was driving ran off the roadway and flipped several times, ejecting McCommons.
McCommons was transported to Lafayette General Hospital and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to investigators from Troop D, on September 28 at around 5:15 p.m., the 2003 Ford pick-up truck, driven by McCommons from Rayne was traveling east on Interstate 10 in Jefferson Davis Parish. While traveling east on Interstate 10, the left rear tire of the 2003 Ford pick-up blew out, causing the truck to lose control. The pick-up truck ran off the roadway and flipped several times, ejecting McCommons. A passenger in the pick-up truck, Amy Kibodeaux, 30, from Scott, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.
Toxicology tests are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The crash remains under investigation.
